What’s It Like To Spin Out on the Ice in a Fire Truck? Firefighter Tells the Story – And Yes, There Was Cursing

By now you’re no doubt seen the terrifying video of a Missouri fire truck spinning out responding to a call on an icy morning.

The incident happened to the Rock Community Fire Protection District responding to a 7 a.m. call to an icy neighborhood.

Remarkably, other than damage caused by a collision with a parked car, the incident did very little harm and the driver managed to use what limited control he had to avoid any houses.

Firefighter Kevin Steinmeyer told KMOV he tried to do whatever he could to avoid people during the frightening incident, though for much of the spin the vehicle was uncontrollable. “I knew if I kept going I was going to run into a house or take somebody out. With everybody being home from school I was scared I was going to kill somebody.”
