Construction will be completed by the end of September, the report said. A fire official said there will be sleeping quarters for everybody and a big day room.

The 13-member department has been in its old fire station for nearly 50 years.

A fire official said the old station had water leaks and septic problems, and that the new station will be more comfortable and will be available for the community to use.

The former station was located at 3901 High Falls Road in Jackson, Georgia. (Google maps)
