Lebanon (NH) FD Demolishes 70-Year-Old Central Fire Station to Make Way for New Building

After 70 years, the Lebanon Fire Department is getting a new station. The old fire station was demolished Sept. 3-5, and a new three-story station will be built at the same location.

The new design will avoid placing living quarters above the garage to minimize exposure to dangerous chemicals, wmur.com reported.

The city of Lebanon successfully conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Central Fire Station Aug. 12, marking the commencement of a transformative project for the community’s emergency services, the city said in a press release.

The expectation is that the new fire station will be ready by January 2026.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to highlight a project on our boards, a Net Zero Energy Fire Station for Lebanon NH Fire Department,” Lavallee Brensinger Architects said in a Facebook post April 23. “This project will have extremely low energy consumption, and renewable energy will make up for the rest. We are actively working with our consultants at DuBois & King, Inc. and Foley Buhl Roberts & Associates, Inc. to drive down energy use. As well as Liberty – New Hampshire to take advantage of NHSaves incentives, and the city of Lebanon, New Hampshire to set a new bar for High-Performance Public Safety facilities.”
