The Milford Fire Department recently received a federal grant of $441,000 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, the department said in a Facebook post.

This grant, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security, will be used to upgrade critical equipment. Specifically, the funds will help purchase new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and Rapid Intervention Team Packs, enhancing the safety and effectiveness of Milford’s firefighters.

An internal committee from the Milford Fire Department has been established to research and try out several different vendors and these efforts are still ongoing. We are all very thankful for the hard work from everyone that was involved to make this Grant become a reality for the community and the citizens that we proudly serve.
