Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics said the U.S. Air Force has selected ONESuit Gard chemical protective single-skin hazmat suits for personnel based in Iraq.

All ONESuit products, including the ONESuit Gard, are certified to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1991 for superior protection against the most dangerous chemical and biological agents.

With a single-skin design, ONESuit Gard chemical protective suits do not require overcovers to keep wearers safe, allowing for maneuverability and user comfort. The hazmat suit is also lightweight, offers extended shelf life, and is compactable for convenient, space-saving storage, the company said.

“It’s all about safely completing the mission, and we’re honored that the U.S. military has chosen ONESuit products to protect our fellow citizens,” said Peter A. Kirk II, Saint-Gobain product manager for protective systems.

The ONESuit Gard suits were sold to the U.S. Air Force through contractor Witmer Associates of Coatesville, Pa.

In addition to ONESuit Gard, Saint-Gobain’s chemical protective offerings include ONESuit Flash, ONESuit Pro and ONEGlove Hazmat.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Merrimack, N.H., is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain Corp., of Valley Forge, Pa.
