Aug. 8—Firefighters with the American Canyon Fire Protection District will receive new wildland jackets for fighting wildfires through a grant from the California Fire Foundation.
According to the district’s spokesperson Laura Provencher, American Canyon Fire received a $10,000 grant, which is enough money to purchase personnel protective gear for each member of the agency’s firefighting team.
Fire Chief Geoff Belyea said in the news release the grant is vital to the agency’s efforts to safety combat wildland fires.
American Canyon Fire noted that the California Fire Foundation offers statewide grants to local fire departments in support of wildfire prevention, education and planning.
