Itronix Offers Gobi Wireless 3G Technology

General Dynamics Itronix will offer Qualcomm’s Gobi global mobile Internet technology as a new capability for the Itronix line of rugged notebooks, tablet PCs and ultra-mobile PCs, including the vehicle-rugged GD6000 and the fully rugged line of GD8000 notebook computers.

The multi-mode Gobi technology enables General Dynamics Itronix customers to take advantage of high-speed, data access services from 3G network carriers around the world. 

“With Gobi technology integrated into our rugged mobile computers, our customers have the high-speed data capabilities of multiple broadband networks with fast, secure connectivity,” said John Schneider, business unit director for General Dynamics Itronix. “Whether it’s a police officer, field technician or mobile worker, our goal is to offer the greatest range of connectivity so they can perform their jobs quickly.”

The vehicle-rugged GD6000 notebook is the first General Dynamics Itronix product to have embedded Gobi technology. Customers ordering Gobi-ready GD6000 and GD8000 notebooks equipped with WWAN and CRMA modules before Nov. 30 will be eligible to receive a free Gobi module valued at $350.
