Thief Takes Plano’s (TX) New Fire Truck on Joyride to Dallas

A Texas man led police on a search over the weekend when he drove off with a Plano fire truck and wound up in Dallas where he was arrested.

The stolen truck had not even been put into service yet when it was taken, news reports said. It was at a Balch Springs company that was finishing the vehicle for delivery when a man showed up at the business applying for work. The man then got into the truck and drove it away at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Dallas police say Jose Mora took the truck 15 miles to Dallas where they apprehended him. He’s been charged with theft of goods valued in excess of $300,000. The truck, meanwhile, was placed in the care of Dallas Fire-Rescue until it could be retrieved, WFAA reported.
