A $1.7 million rescue truck for the Rescue Fire Company in Cambridge, MD, has been approved by the city council, according to a report published by The Star Democrat.
According to the report, the unanimous approval came after hours of discussion with the fire chief telling councilors why it was necessary to buy the truck.
The report said the councilors were told the 1999 rescue vehicle was not meeting the department needs presently and the new truck was necessary to provide the city with protection. The truck will hold all the rescue equipment needed in the city and is expected to last about 30 years, according to the report.
The fire company will soon contract with a builder to have the apparatus built, according to the newspaper.
