New $850K Fire Rescue-Pumper Put in Service in Western Carteret (NC)

A new, full-equipped $850,000 rescue-pumper is now in service with Western Carteret (NC) Fire & EMS at the Cedar Point fire station replacing two worn out apparatus, according to a report published by Carteret County News-Times.

According to the report the new apparatus will replace a rescue truck and an engine, both which are more than 20 years old.

Previously, firefighters assigned to the shift would have to move from one vehicle to the other to respond to calls, but now the one apparatus will perform both duties, according to the report.

The 2022 Spartan Emergency Response rescue-engine will formally be put in service during a ceremony on Aug. 20, according to the report, which added the cost of the apparatus was $768,000 with an additional approximately $80,000 worth of equipment added.

The new apparatus will cover  Bogue, Cedar Point, Cape Carteret and Peletier, as well as unincorporated areas in the county, according to the report.
