Rosenbauer’s new high volume pump, the N200, will deliver 5,750-plus gallons-per-minute (gpm) from draft, is driven via a split shaft gearbox, and can be midship or rear-mounted on an apparatus.

Rosenbauer has introduced the N200 high volume pump that will deliver in excess of 5,750 gpm from draft.

Chris Kleinhuizen, industrial products manager for Rosenbauer, says the N200 is an entirely new design that has been developed in conjunction with KASE Pumping Systems. “It’s a high strength, corrosion resistant pump that is lightweight, with a carbon fiber housing and impeller, and a high grade stainless steel shaft,” Kleinhuizen says. “It’s a high efficiency, double volute, single suction, closed impeller design with a self-adjusting mechanical seal, and a vertically split pump casing for ease of service.”

Kleinhuizen points out that the 5,750 gpm N200 pump was fitted to a Rosenbauer Super Pumper built for San Francisco (CA) Fire Department that has a 12-inch main suction and an 8-inch discharge, along with a complement of 6,000 feet of 5-inch LDH (large diameter hose), 500 feet of 3-inch hose, and 200 feet of 8-inch hose. The San Francisco super pumper is powered by a 605-horsepower (hp) Cummins X15 diesel engine, and an Allison 4000 EVS automatic transmission.

The KASE 3,000 gpm submersible single impeller pump that San Francisco carries on its Super Pumper.

San Francisco created a spec that required a pump to do a minimum of 5,500 gpm from draft, and contained a lot of unique equipment,” Kleinhuizen says. “This included a very large hose load, and a pump house that also accommodates a hydraulic cooling and control system for a hydraulic reel at the back with a 3,000-gpm KASE submersible single impeller pump that’s carried in a compartment. When we were working with San Francisco with the N200, we hit 6,800-gpm for a short time. We expect that we will certify the N200 at between 6,200-gpm and 6,500-gpm with its next test.”

Kyle Chandler, owner and president of KASE Pumping Systems, notes that by using composites in the N200, “the pump itself only weighs 150 pounds, which is about 80 percent lighter than its steel counterparts.”

Kleinhuizen adds that the N200 high volume pump has a durable and quiet gearbox operation at peak engine power, and is available with an optional piston primer pump.
