Fairview (TX) Fire Rescue 2019 Pierce Velocity Pumper

Engine 752 began service with Fairview (TX) Fire Rescue on June 29, 2019. The cab/chassis is a Pierce Velocity model with seating for 5 and 3 rear-facing EMS cabinets. Two cabinets are mounted on the left- and right-side walls of the cab, and one is center-mounted on the cab floor. The side wall cabinets also have exterior access. A Coleman Mach 8 Roughneck AC-Heat unit (15K cool; 6K heat) mounted over the center of the cab provides auxiliary temperature control when the apparatus is not in use. The apparatus is constructed of standard aluminum with side roll and frontal impact protection. Full depth compartments and Gortite roll-up doors are featured. Rescue-style compartments are located on top of the body. Additional SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells on each side and in a compartment above the pump panel.

The power is provided by a Detroit DD13 505-hp engine and an Allison 4000 EVS 6-speed transmission with pushbutton controls. The TAK-4 independent front suspension system is featured as is the Pierce Command Zone advanced electronic and control system.

The apparatus has a Hale Qmax-200 single-stage 2,000-gpm pump along with a 500-gallon “New York Style” polypropylene tank. Foam capabilities are provided by a Husky 3 Foam System with a 30-gallon foam cell. Foam is plumbed to the two front bumper tray discharges, the left rear discharge below the hosebed, and a right side discharge.

The hosebed features a 4-section, aluminum treadplate cover and carries 700’ of 5-inch LDH, 400’ of 2½-inch hose, 200’ of 1¾-inch hose, and two high rise packs (100’ each of 2 inch hose in a removable tray. The front bumper tray carries two preconnected lays of 1¾-inch hose (1 at 100’ and one at 200’). A dead lay (300’ of 3-inch hose) is located in a semienclosed compartment behind the cab. A Task Force Tips Typhoon monitor is mounted above the pump panel. The ladder tunnel on the right side of the hose body carries Duo-Safety ladders (900-A 24’ 2-section, 775-DR 14’ roof and 585-A folding). A Little Giant Model 13 folding ladder is stored in the engineer compartment next to the pump panel.

Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV-Q (81 inch) Lightbar and Whelen M6 LED lights on the apparatus body. A Whelen TANF 65 traffic directing light is mounted on the rear of the rig. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer PCPSM2 lights on each side of the rear body, Pioneer PCPSM1 lights above the exterior EMS doors on each side and two Pioneer PH2 brow lights. Audio warning devices include a flush mount Federal Signal Q2B in the of the bumper and a Whelen Model 295HFS2 electronic siren module connected to two Whelen SA315P 100 watt speakers mounted through the front bumper.
