Pierce Job # 33514

Engine 10 began service with the McKinney (TX) Fire Department on April 2, 2020, when Station 10 was opened. The cab/chassis is a Pierce Velocity model with seating for five, along with rear-facing cabinets mounted on each side of the cab between the front seats and the crew seats. The cabinets are accessible thru hinged compartment doors. The cab also features the CARE clean cab concept. The apparatus is constructed of aluminum with full depth compartments with both Amdor roll-up doors and hinged doors. Compartments are also located on top of the body sides. SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells on each side.

The power is provided by a Detroit DD13 525-HP engine and an Allison 5th Generation 4500 EVS 6 speed transmission with push-button controls. The TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System is featured, as is the Pierce Command Zone Advanced Electronic and Control System. A Harrison MSV 6kW generator is located above the pump panel on the left side.

The apparatus has a Hale QMAX-200 single-stage 2,000-GPM pump along with a 500-gallon poly tank. Foam capabilities are provided by a FoamPro 2001 System with a 20-gallon foam cell and a Rowe CAFS. Foam is plumbed to the front jump line, the three crosslays and the booster line.

The hose bed carries 1,050 feet of 5-inch LDH and 400 feet of 3-inch hose. The front bumper tray carries a Brooklyn load of 100 feet of 1.75-inch hose and three crosslays (150 feet each of 1.75-inch hose on the top lays and 200 feet of 2-inch in the bottom tray) are located in trays behind the cab adjacent to the pump panel. Five-inch LDH sections are stored in compartments adjacent to the pump panel. A Task Force Tips Crossfire Monitor (Model XFT-NJ) paired with a TFT M-R 1250 GPM nozzle with TFT XF-SS5 and MST-4NJ shaper and tips is mounted above the pump panel. The booster reel (200 feet of 1-inch hose) is located on the right side above the pump. Alco-Lite ladders (PEL 24-foot 2-section, PRL 14-foot roof, and FL 10-foot folding) are stored in a compartment on the rear of the apparatus. A Little Giant Velocity Model 13 ladder is stored in a right-side compartment.

Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV-Q LED Lightbar (81-inch), Whelen M4, M6, and WIONSMC LED lights on the apparatus body perimeter. A Roto Ray is mounted on the face of the cab. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer LED lights (models PCPSM2 and PCPSM1) which are located on both sides of the cab and body. Brow lighting on both the driver’s and officer’s side of the cab is provided by Whelen Pioneer PH2 lights.

Audio warning devices include a Federal Q2B siren mounted on the left front bumper and a Whelen Model 295SLSA1 electronic siren module connected to two Whelen SA315P 100-watt speakers mounted through the front bumper. The traditional bell is mounted on the right bumper.
