Engine 3 began service with the Lewisville (TX) Fire Department on Sept. 6, 2019. An engine in the same specification was placed into service as Engine 1 on Aug. 30, 2019. The cab/chassis is a Pierce Impel model with seating for six and two forward-facing EMS cabinets–one installed on the left wall of the cab and one on the right cab wall. A Coleman Mach 8 Roughneck auxiliary climate control unit (15K BTU-cooling and 6K heat) mounted over the center of the cab area provides auxiliary temperature control when the apparatus is not in use. The apparatus is constructed of standard aluminum with side roll and frontal protection. Full-depth compartments and Gortite roll-up doors are part of the body package. Additional SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells.
The power is provided by a Cummins L9 450 HP engine and an Allison 5th-Generation 3000 EVS five-speed transmission with push-button controls. The TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System is featured, as is the Pierce Command Zone advanced electronic and control system with Wi-Fi. A Mobile Electric Power Supply 4.5-kW generator is carried on board.
The apparatus has a Darley PSM Magna Transmission single-stage, mid-ship 1,500-GPM pump with top-mount controls. The tank is a 750-gallon “New York”-style poly tank.
The hose bed features an aluminum tread plate cover and carries 1,000 feet of 5-inch LDH, two 200-foot lays of 2.5-inch hose and a “Cleveland” lay with 100 feet of 1.75-inch hose. Two high-rise “Denver” packs (50 feet of 2.5-inch hose) are on board also. The running boards on each side carry a 25-foot section of five-inch LDH. The front bumper tray carries 100 feet of 1.75-inch hose connected to a 1.5-inch discharge and twin donut lays of one-inch hose. Crosslays (two with 200 feet each of 1.75-inch hose) are located in a semi-enclosed compartment beneath the pump panel. A Task Force Tip Crossfire Model XFC-52 deck gun with a TFT Extend-A-Gun Model XG18 and quad-stacked tips is mounted on top of the pump. The ladder tunnel on the right rear end of the apparatus carries Duo-Safety ladders (900A 24 feet 2-section, 775A 14-foot roof, & 585A10-foot folding). A Little Giant ladder is stored in the left rear-side compartment.
Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV-Q Lightbar (81-inch), a Roto-Ray on the cab nose, two Whelen MCFLED2 mini light bars on the upper rear body corners and Whelen M6 and WIONSMC LED lights on the apparatus body. A Whelen TANF65 traffic-directing light is mounted on the rear of the apparatus. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer PFP1 lights mounted behind the crew doors on each side and a Will-Burt Chief Night Scan Tower Model NS2.3-600 (mounted on the cab roof) with four Whelen Pioneer PH2 lights attached. Audio warning devices include a pedestal-mounted Federal Q2B siren mounted on the left bumper area and a Whelen Model 295HFSC9 (Dual Tone) electronic siren module connected to two Whelen SA314A speakers mounted through the front bumper. The traditional fire bell is mounted on the right front bumper area.
