PIERCE MANUFACTURING announced that Emergency Vehicle Specialists Mid-South (EVS Mid-South) has been named the sales and service dealer for both the Pierce and Medtec brands in Tennessee and Arkansas. EVS Mid-South is a division of G&W Diesel. Both organizations are led by President Bobby Wharton. EVS Mid-South has sales and service locations in Memphis, Tennessee, and Conway, Arkansas. The company features factory-trained technicians and comprehensive support capabilities, including more than 20 mobile service vehicles. Pierce also announced it expanded the sales territory of Reliant Fire Apparatus, Inc. to represent the Pierce brand in the state of Iowa in addition to its present territory of southern Wisconsin.

AMERICAN LaFRANCE has opened sales of its LTI ladders to select North American and international fire apparatus manufacturing partners. As part of its North American offering, American LaFrance will make available the Squrt and TeleSqurt product lines, as well as all rear-mount ladders and rear-mount platforms. American LaFrance has had success with its TeleSqurt product overseas but will look to expand into developing markets with the full LTI product line. All LTI aerial customers will receive the same support as American LaFrance customers receive today with aerial training specialists deployed from the company’s LTI facility in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Full-time parts and service technicians are also available, along with a refurbishment center located within the LTI Ephrata facility.

ON TARGET CHALLENGE, INC. announced that Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, will host the “Scott World Firefighter Combat Challenge.” The Challenge will take place November 14-19, 2011. Known as the “toughest two minutes in sports,” the Scott World Firefighter Combat Challenge was developed to promote and showcase the talents, skills, and athleticism of America’s firefighters. The event is expected to attract about 1,500 firefighters and more than 4,000 of their family and friends from about 25 municipalities of all sizes throughout the United States, Canada, and other countries like New Zealand, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa.

SEAGRAVE FIRE APPARATUS has announced that two companies will represent it for sales and service throughout Ontario and Quebec. Ontario Fire Truck (OFT) is located in Dundas, Ontario, and will represent Seagrave throughout Northern, Western, Southern, and Central Ontario. Eastway Emergency Vehicles is located in Carleton Place, Ontario, and will represent Seagrave for primarily aerial sales in Northern and Eastern Ontario, all of Quebec, and Northern New York, in the United States.

ELKHART BRASS announced the reassignment of Tom Negley, midwest regional sales manager, to OEM account manager. His position has been created to support the company’s growing OEM market. Elkhart plans to continue adding resources to better serve its customers. He will be responsible for handling a group of its larger fire apparatus manufacturers. Jerry Herbst has also been assigned as strategic development manager for national accounts. Herbst will be assigned to key national accounts and Elkhart’s government sales partner, Protect the Force. Negley and Herbst will both still report to Scott Warbritton, director of U.S. sales.

BULLARD now offers the “Build Your Bullard” product configurator. This new tool, which can be accessed via www.buildyourbullard.com, takes users through an interactive configurator experience that offers an array of customization options for Bullard’s products and accessories. Bullard’s complete line of products in thermal imaging, fire and rescue helmets, respiratory protection, and head and face protection can be configured using this tool. When configuring a product, users answer specific questions to help narrow down their search to find the right product for their environment. Once configured, users can save, print, and e-mail their information for future reference.

LION, INC. has acquired Berlin, Wisconsin-based Safeguard America LLC, a privately held manufacturer of the FireGuard® brand of protective structural firefighting gloves and apparel. Safeguard America LLC operated as part of Chicago Protective Apparel and now operates as part of Lion Apparel, Inc. Through its LION Protective Gloves® line, LION will offer several models of NFPA 1971-compliant structural firefighting gloves, as well as extrication and wildland glove offerings. LION Protective Gloves® joins LION’s existing product offerings of personal protective equipment (PPE), clothing, and gear for the fire service, which include the LION Janesville® turnout gear, LION Paul Conway Helmets®, LION Technical Footwear®, and LION CBRN® and LION StationWear® brands.

UTC FIRE & SECURITY has announced changes to its senior leadership team. Mark Barry has been appointed president, global fire products (GFP), succeeding Scott Buckhout, who was appointed president, UTC Fire & Security in late March. Kelly Romano will succeed Barry as president, global security products (GSP); both appointments are effective immediately.

MICHIGAN POWER CLEANING’s Operation Wildfire 2011 donation of a UHP brush fire foam rig was awarded on July 4, 2011. The recipient of the UHP foam skid brush rig donation is Pembroke Fire Protection District in St. Anne, Illinois. The department is located about 60 miles southeast of Chicago. Of the department’s 157 calls in 2009, 60 were wildfire calls. The donated fire unit has a 60-gallon water tank, a 2½-gallon foam tank, a 3½-gpm Cat pump producing 1,500 psi, a six-hp Kohler engine, a 200-foot hose reel, and a twin foam gun that can apply Class A or B foam in a straight stream or a wider white line pattern.
