The Dalton City Council recently approved the purchase of a Sutphen 100-foot mid-mount aerial platform for the Dalton Fire Department, according to city council meeting notes.

The council voted 3-0 to approve a purchase agreement for the new fire truck. The agreement will cost $2.199 million which will be paid from the 2024 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

The truck will not be delivered for approximately 34-36 months, and the vehicle will not be paid for until delivery.

By locking in the purchase price, the city stands to save a great deal of money as the costs for Sutphen fire trucks are constantly going up.
