Campbell County (KY) Receives New HazMat Response Vehicle

ALEXANDRIA, Kentucky (June 18) — The Campbell County Office of Emergency Management received its new Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction response vehicle this week.

The vehicle will serve Campbell County and is also deployable with the Northern Kentucky HazMat/WMD Unit, which includes 11 counties in Northern Kentucky.

William R. Turner, Director of the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management said; This specialized vehicle will help protect life and the environment by responding to HazMat/WMD emergencies and minimizing the dangers associated with them.

Turner noted the new addition is customized with a variety of tools and equipment to aid and protect response teams and the environment during hazmat incidents.

The vehicle was custom-built to the specifications of the Office of Emergency Management by Summit Fire Apparatus and Custom Fabricators in Edgewood, Kentucky.

The vehicle was purchased with State Homeland Security Grant funds from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security.

The new vehicle will be stationed at the Wilder Fire Department.
