Caldwell (ID) FD Welcomes Two New Fire Apparatus Into Service

A Push-In Ceremony was held Monday, August 19 at Caldwell Fire Station 2 to welcome its two new fire apparatus.

The newest engine, a 2024 Pierce Enforcer with a 1,000-gallon water tank, will join CFD’s fleet. Engine 12 and Squad 12 will enhance the department’s capabilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of Caldwell’s residents.

This marks the second Push-In Ceremony in Caldwell’s recent history, followed by the introduction of a new ladder truck in April 2023. The Push-In Ceremony is a time-honored tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire departments used hand-drawn pumpers and horse-drawn equipment. After returning from a fire call, firefighters had to manually push the equipment back into the station, as horses could not easily back it in. This ceremonial gesture is a tribute to the rich history of the firefighting profession and symbolizes the commitment of the department to serve the community with the latest in firefighting technology.

“We are excited to continue this meaningful tradition with the addition of Engine 12 and Squad 12 to our fleet,” said Caldwell Fire Chief Rick Frawley. “The Push-In Ceremony is not just about welcoming new apparatus, but also about honoring our heritage and our ongoing dedication to the community we serve.”

CFD will be adding three more engines, replacing older engines that will be put into reserve roles. The department is also building Station 4. They are in the process of developing plans for two more stations, Stations 5 and 6.
