Four Injured in Wreck That Overturns Mehlville (MO) FPD Ambulance

Four people were injured, including two Emergency Medical Service workers, after a crash involving an ambulance Sunday in south St. Louis County, firstalert4.com reported.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. Sunday when, according to St. Louis County Police, an ambulance attempting to turn east with its emergency lights and sirens was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling west, turning the ambulance onto its side, the report said.

The ambulance driver and passenger, along with the car’s driver and passenger, were all transported to an area hospital for treatment, the report said. There was no patient on-board of the ambulance, according to the report.

Mehlville Fire Protection District ambulance, 1717, was involved in the accident over the weekend, the department said in a Facebook post Monday, June 17.

“A civilian driver cut through the intersection and struck the ambulance, causing it to overturn,” the department said.” “Thankfully, our critical care paramedics and the other driver only suffered minor injuries.

“This incident serves as a crucial reminder for everyone to be extra watchful on the roads. Always be mindful of emergency vehicles with lights and sirens activated. Please slow down, pull over, and let us pass safely. Your cooperation can prevent accidents and save lives!”
