TN American Water Accepting 2024 Firefighting Support Grant Applications

Last year, the company awarded grants to 14 departments in Marion and Hamilton counties as well as parts of northwest Georgia.

PRESS RELEASE

Tennessee American Water is proud to partner with our local firefighters and emergency responders. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and invaluable service to provide fire protection. To show our appreciation, Tennessee American Water created the Firefighting Support grant program to benefit local fire departments.

Departments in the service area who are interested in applying can do so through August 16, 2024 online at https://www.amwater.com/tnaw/News-Community/firefighter-grant-program.

Recipients will be notified in September of their status. Last year, the company awarded grants to 14 departments in Marion and Hamilton counties as well as parts of northwest Georgia.

The Firefighting Support Grants provide financial assistance to uniformed, professional and volunteer fire departments serving communities in the company’s designated service territories, including sale-for-resale areas (Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; Catoosa County GA; Signal Mountain, TN), and fire departments adjacent or supporting fire departments within Tennessee American Water service territories.

Grant applications should indicate a need for funds to cover costs associated with the following:

  • Personal protective gear
  • Communications equipment
  • Firefighting tools
  • Water handling equipment, or
  • Training and related activities/materials that will be used to support community fire protection (Reimbursement for specific fire training classes, including the cost of training manuals and student workbooks, is eligible.)

Only uniformed, professional and volunteer fire departments serving Tennessee American Water’s designated service areas, including sale-for-resale communities, are eligible to receive funding. No grants will be made to individuals.

The maximum grant amount is $1,000. Fire departments/districts are eligible for one grant per calendar year. Grant funds are limited, so regional or countywide applications are encouraged to maximize the number of fire organizations that would benefit from the grants.
