The Union City (MI) Volunteer Fire Department has taken delivery of a new tanker manufactured by Custom Fab and Body. The rig is the first new truck the department has purchased since 1991.

The rig is built on an International MV507 4×4 chassis with Super Single wheels powered by a Cummins L9 370-hp engine and Allison Automatic transmission. The truck is equipped with a 500-gpm PTO pump that supplies two (2) 2½” discharges and an Akron Fire Fox front bumper monitor. The water tank is a 2,000-gallon UPF Poly wet-side tank equipped with a rear 4” Firemen’s Friend fill with 2½” adapters and a Newton manual swivel dump valve and chute.

The body is an aluminum structure with compartments ahead of and behind the rear wheels equipped with Gortite aluminum roll-up doors. There are two SCBA bottle compartments in the rear wheel wells for a single air bottle. There is hard suction hose storage at the driver’s side of the tank and a Ziamatic electric portable tank system at the passenger side.

The warning light system is a combination of Whelen and TecNiq LED lighting and TecNiq LED scene lighting.
