The Knoxville Fire Department, which has 14 Ferrara trucks in its fleet, ordered two custom pumpers and a 77-foot aerial ladder. All three will all be built on Ferrara’s Igniter heavy-duty custom chassis.
“It’s always gratifying to see a large order such as this, even more so when it’s repeat business from one of our high-profile departments,” said Chris Ferrara, the company president and CEO.
Knoxville employs more than 300 full time fire-rescue professionals and operates 18 fire stations that protect the city’s 175,000 residents and businesses, including the University of Tennessee.
Houston awarded Ferrara a contract for two HD-107 heavy-duty rear-mount aerial ladders. Houston has 11 Ferrara HD-107 aerial ladders, fifty-five engines and two hazardous materials heavy rescue vehicles.
“We work hard every day to earn their business by taking care of the many trucks already in service to Houston,” Ferrara said.
Houston has America’s fourth largest fire department with 88 engine companies and 92 fire stations. It is responsible for preserving the lives and property of over 2 million residents.
