AWG Max Widenmann, which has been supplying the European fire service for more than 100 years and the United States fire service for longer than 25 years, has a new name and a new owner.
The company was sold due to differing business strategy opinions among the Wahl and Widenmann families, and its name was changed to AWG Fittings, according to the new owner, Paragon Partners GmbH, an independent investment company.
AWG was the frontrunner in the introduction of large diameter sexless Storz couplings to the U.S. fire service, according to Paragon, which noted the technology has become the standard for large-diameter hose couplings and large flow appliances in most of North America.
The new managing partner of AWG Fittings is Stefan Geisperger, who said the company intends to improve customer relationships by looking closely at individual requirements. The priority, he said, will be to provide customers with high product performance and short lead times while focusing on new product development.
AWG Fittings will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary responsible for sales and service to the U.S., Mexico and Canada with a fully stocked warehouse in South Walpole, Mass.,
Paragon said its investment focus is on sustainability, growth and innovation.
