Engine 1 began service with the Frisco (TX) Fire Department on February 20, 2019. New engines in this specification were also placed into service at Station 3 and Station 8. The cab/chassis is a Pierce Velocity model with seating for 5 and 2 rear facing overhead compartments. A Coleman Mach 8 Roughneck AC-Heat unit (15K cool; 6K heat) mounted on the cab roof provides auxiliary temperature control when the apparatus is not in use. The apparatus is constructed of standard aluminum with side roll and frontal impact protection. Full-depth compartments and Amdor roll-up doors are featured. Additional SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells.

A new feature on the Frisco engines is the Pierce “Clean Cab” concept. This includes easily cleanable materials inside the cab body and on the seats, a high-impact HVAC Filtration system, a warm water rinse station, and compartments to store gear post fire.
The power is provided by a Cummins L9 450-hp engine and an Allison 5th Generation 4000 EVS 5-speed transmission with pushbutton controls. The TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System is featured as is the Pierce Command Zone advanced electronic and control system.
The apparatus has a Hale Qmax-200 single-stage 2,000-gpm pump along with a 500-gallon “New York Style” polypropylene tank. A warm water rinse outlet is located on the pump panel and is connected to an 18-gallon tank. Foam capabilities are provided by a Husky 12 Foam System with a 25-gallon foam cell. Foam is plumbed to the front bumper tray discharge, the 2 speedlays, the deck monitor, and both rear discharges.
The hosebed features a T-Bar aluminum tread plate cover and carries 800’ of 5 inch LDH, 300’ of 2½-inch hose, a skidload consisting of 250’ of 2½-inch hose attached to a wye with a lay of 100’ of 1¾-inch hose. The high-rise pack consists of 3 sections of 2½-inch hose (50’ each) and an appliance bag. The front bumper tray carries 200’ of 1¾-inch hose. The top speedlay is 200’ of 2½-inch hose and the bottom speedlay is 200’ of 1¾-inch hose. A long line (350’ of 1¾-inch hose) is located behind the cab. A Task Force Tips Hurricane monitor (Model HFIH-E) with a TFT Master Stream (Model M-ERP-NJ) and a TFT RC-3 Extend-a-Gun (Model XGA32) is mounted above the pump panel. A Hannay booster reel with 150’ of ¾-inch hose is mounted on the upper right side of the body. The ladder tunnel on the right side of the body carries Duo-Safety ladders (900-A 24’ 2-section, 775-DR 14’ roof and 585A folding). A Little Giant Model 13 folding ladder is stored in a right side rear compartment.
Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV-D (81 inch) Lightbar and Whelen M6, M9 and WIONSMC LED lights on the apparatus body. Two Whelen Rota-Beam Model R316RF beacons are mounted on the upper rear body corners. A Whelen TANF 65 traffic directing light is mounted on the bottom of the metal hosebed cover. Scene lighting is provided by a Will-Burt Night Scan Tower with 4 Whelen Pioneer PFH2 light heads. Additional scene lighting is provided by Whelen M6 lights between the cab doors on each side of the cab, Pioneer PCPSM1 lights behind the crew doors on each side, two Pioneer PCPSM2 on each side of the body and two Pioneer PH2 brow lights.
Audio warning devices include a pedestal mount Federal Q2B on the left corner of the front bumper and a Whelen Model 295HFSC9 Dual Tone electronic siren module connected to two Whelen SA315P 100-watt speakers mounted through the front bumper along with a Whelen HOWLER system. The traditional fire bell is mounted on the right front bumper corner.
